For some time now I’ve wanted to start a blog and write about some…well…stuff. Games I’m playing (I’ve quite the backlog). Applications I’ve been, or considering, test driving. Or just to tell people when I’ve done something stupid, like adding SSH private keys to a docker container and pushing said container to Docker Hub. Yeah I did it, it happens to the best of us. Needless to say there was a moment of panic.
Anyway, the idea is to share some of my thoughts and experiences in hopes to help and inspire others and learn along the way. After all, most of the time we learn how not to do something before we learn how to do something, though I might be speaking more for myself, than the collective. With that said, odds are the posts here will remain within the realms of technology, specifically around cloud, cloud security, and the like.
Another thing I wanted to do something a bit more creative than using a services like Medium. Not throwing shade, but as a self proclaimed homelabber, and someone finally making a serious attempt at doing more self hosting (even though this blog is served up on AWS, so it’s self hosted-ish 🤣), I thought it would be a good learning experience to struggle my way through building this myself. And boy it’s been a struggle bus. I spent about 3 days figuring out how to use Hugo and additional day figuring out how to get the configuration right so I was correct in my assumption that I’d be riding the struggle bus for a bit. I’m hoping I’ll be able to keep with this. I have a bad habit of starting something and not continuing. Hopefully life won’t get too much in the way of me keeping this going.
